For everyday I carry a small lightweight folded up reusable grocery bag, my keys, sunglasses, wallet and cellphone. My Galaxy S6 fits in the phone slot with a case on it. The phone holder actually has a soft lining (sorta like fleece) so I am not worried about scratching the camera lens or the screen. The tablet storage is the same way in the back which is great. I bought this for bumming around with my kids (so I can store random kid things in there) and for my Europe trip. For my overseas trip I like that it is a messanger style with a flap so it is a little harder to get inside with my wallet (plus it zippers!) but there is an easy access front zipper.
So far this has exceeded my expectations and I really like it.
One zipped, slightly padded, soft-lined compartment at the back for a tablet / e-reader - should accommodate items up to 10 x 8 x 3/4 inches. Single zipper, only goes down about 2 inches from the top.
Main compartment, single zipper, again opens only partway down the sides (+/- 3 inches), approximately 10.5 x 8 x 2 inches. Lined with pale blue nylon / poly material, which helps to keep things visible.
There is another flat, zipped pocket just in front of the main compartment, made of the blue lining on both sides with some padding between this pocket & the main compartment which should help with durability. This compartment has some flexibility, but items here will push into the main compartment -- it's really for flattish items, and is about 6.5 deep by 8 wide.
On the front of the flat pocket are a series of small slip pockets, the front of which is the charcoal material. There are 4 pen pockets, a wider, soft-lined pocket which can accommodate small electronics (3 x 4.25 inches, maybe 1/4-inch give for thickness), and then a final pen pocket.
The main compartment and front pockets are covered by a full flap, which also has a zipped pocket, about 7 x 8 inches. (The rear tablet compartment is not covered by the flap, just zipped closed.) The flap is secured with a single, centered magnetic button.
The bag has an adjustable webbing strap, about 1-1/2 inches wide, and long enough to use cross-body. There is no strap pad, and the strap is permanently attached.
PROS -- This is a sturdy, attractive bag, with enough pockets to sort my gear, and not so many I lose things. It will accommodate a wallet, phone, small notepad, small book (not too thick), plus a few pens, and sundries (sunscreen, 12-ft tape measure, brush, tissues, etc.) I can throw in a small camera as well. I find this a useful day bag when I want to carry more than a wallet, and much less than my usual work backpack. I used to use a mini-backpack, but can't wear that in museums any more -- this is much nicer looking, and can be worn as a purse (which doesn't set off the art guards). It is sturdy enough for day hikes or trips through the lumber yard, nice enough for museums or cleaner environs -- but I might not use this in an upscale restaurant. Colors other than black are a great option to avoid overemphasizing the "utility" aspect of the bag -- the charcoal grey I have is quite nice. Very good price for what looks like a bag that will last a while.
CONS - No top grab handle, which would be useful. I wish the strap were removable (solves the twisting problem with permanent straps) & had a pad. The flap closure takes a bit of effort to make sure the magnetic button latch is actually closed - otherwise it will flop around, but is long enough to cover the main compartment & front pockets - two magnets or a single buckle would be more reliable. No security worries if you've got things zipped up. I prefer double zippers on compartments for greater convenience, and wish these opened a bit farther. The "phone" pocket is not usable for phones (at least, not my Galaxy S3), but might be okay for smaller electronics.
I'm not sure how waterproof / water resistant this might be, as I've only had it a couple of dry months. It's holding up well to various weekend activities. On the whole I am very pleased with the quality & utility of this bag, especially at this sub-$25 price.
Strap has an issue like most bags with a clip to hold the strap flat. It bunches to one side unless it's fully extended.
I'm giving it one star since the strap unraveled after about 5 months of use. They do come with a lifetime warranty, but since you have to send them a check for $9.50 for postage and handling and ship it yourself, it'll be just cheaper to buy a new bag.
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
The best thing I can say for this bag is that within an hour of it failing, I had another one ordered. This is simply a bag I don't want to be without - and with the price it's listed at, it's the best bag I've ever purchased.
